As Ed and others noted in the comments, Chelokee was taken to Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington after he suffered a condylar fracture in the right front leg after he took a bad step in the stretch of the Alysheba.
"He was traveling absolutely perfect. I had the best horse in the race. I was just trying to pick my spot and as soon as he got to the top of the lane, he stitched to his right lead and broke down. There was absolutely no contact," said jockey Ramon Dominguez, who was tossed from the mount and cleared to return after being examined by Churchill Downs First Aid.
I've had this info for a while, but have been unable to get back to my computer to provide an update. With all of the people gathering in the covered areas, it is difficult to get fro one side of the track to another...
I'm on my way to the roof to watch the Kentucky Oaks, and then will return to my space in the paddock pavilion for the winners press conference.
