Trainer James Kasparoff's Bob Black Jack will break from gate 13, which puts the world record setting sprinter inside of most of the speed horses on Saturday.
"I actually like his post a lot," Kasparoff said after the draw. "There's a lot of speed to our outside and I think that's going to work to our advantage. We got to pick 13th and we got the 13 -- I find that interesting."
The Santa Anita Derby runner-up galloped a mile and a half this morning with exercise rider Joe Deegan up -- veteran California-based jockey Richard Migliore will ride in the Derby.
"We're not breaking any records out there (in the morning)," Kaspaoff said. "The track was a little on the rough side this morning, so you didn't want to push it. His ears were pricked and he was having fun."
The horse set the world record at six and a half furlongs earlier this year when he ran the Sunshine Millions Dash at Santa Anita in 1:06.53.
Kasparoff also decided earlier in the week to race the horse with blinker on for the first time, something that could make an already fast horse even faster on Saturday.
"But they're not the big ones -- they're cheaters," he said. "He just needs them for the last eighth of a mile to get him focused. I've worked him inside and outside horses with them and it does seem to focus him."

The record was 6 furlongs.
I liked your CNL John post, he is shaping up to be my choice.
