Tale of Ekati Works Half Mile

Barclay Tagg's Tale of Ekati breezed a half-mile in :49.40 this morning at Churchill Downs, he was the lone Derby contender to work on Tuesday.

"You can't see much of anything unless you watch it on TV. You go to the locker's stand and watch it on TV -- corporate America!" Tagg joked. "I wanted him to go a nice half-mile. He went fine. Nothing dramatic."

The trainer also saddles Derby contender Big Truck and said he'd like to draw post position four to eight for both of his horses. Tagg trained 2003 Kentucky Derby winner Funny Cide, a gelding that now works as a stable pony for his barn.
