Kentucky Derby Post Draw Live Results

I didn't plan on live blogging the post draw this year, but since ESPN2 is going to be showing the draw on a tape-delay, I will go ahead and post the results and notes in this entry... hit refresh to get the latest news.

Add 30 minutes to all of my times below and that is when you should see what I see...

5:06: Still no feed available.
5:07: Oh the feed is up, this is so exciting (/end sarcasm)
5:08: I think that they can probably cut into this thing already in progress and the public would only miss 2 or 3 picks thanks to all of ESPN's filler. We may not see our first post position selected until 15 minutes into this ...
5:10: Jerry Bailey has a whiteboard where he is projecting where he thinks the picks will be... he thinks Big Brown will be at 18.
5:12: Commercial break
5:18: UK Coach Billy G. just picked half the field... I think he was asked for five horses, I'm not sure I was at the concession stand
5:19: Visionaire's owner checked Bailey's board to see what he should take, he took Jerry's advice and grabbed gate 8...
5:20: Big Truck grabbed gate 7, Colonel John is next up...
5:22: Colonel John took gate 10, Jerry's board is screwed...
5:23: Z Fortune grabbed gate 6... man this is boring
5:25: The middle of the board is filling up with Pyro grabbing the 9 spot.
5:25: I just got an email that ESPN is still showing post game analysis...
5:26: Commercial Break
5:28: Mayor For Life Jerry Abramson just came on back from the commercial, he has on the ugliest jacket I have ever seen.
5:29: Eight Belles is up next... and Larry Jones took post 5! Drama!
5:30: Anak Nakal, a horse I keep forgetting about, is up Nick Zito takes post 3, not a shock for a long shot that will save ground.
5:31: IEAH/Winstar's Court Vision goes into gate 4 -- no one has gone higher than gate 10 yet.
5:32: Z Humor (not to be confused with Z Fortune) is up and takes gate 11.
5:33: Monba takes post 14, the last post in the regular gate that has a gap of 8-10 feet between the main and auxiliary gate.
5:34: Commercial Break, as a general note, the Churchill Downs press box has some of the best sweet cornbread muffins...
5:37: Does it annoy anyone else that the draw a two-minute horse race takes an hour?
5:38: I think Dale Jarrett got paid to pick Big Brown...
5:39: Gate 12 now belongs to Smooth Air...
5:40: I'm serious, these cornbread muffins are amazing
5:41: The other side of the auxiliary gate goes to Adriano
5:42: Jerry thought Bob Black Jack would go in Gate 3, but it's gone now -- the speedy horse goes into gate 13
5:43: Some guy ran up to stop a lady from putting Denis of Cork in gate 16, but then she was instructed to select that gate anyway (sorry, I was getting more cornbread and didn't see who it was)
5:44: Cowboy Cal goes into gate 17, no drama there...
5:45: Commercial Break. When we get back, Big Brown will select...
5:46: Still at commercial, but these muffins are like a desert -- last year they gave us honey to put on them, but there is none this year.
5:49: That seemed like a really long commercial, I was worried that Rick Dutrow refused to select a gate and when ahead and declared Big Brown the Derby winner with no race needed...
5:51: The Cardinal bird is getting a lot of TV time.
5:52: Good thing Dutrow thinks that post position doesn't matter, because his horse is stuck in gate... 20 -- WHAT IN THE WORLD!
5:53: The heads of at least three reporters in the press box exploded
5:54: Tale of Ekati took gate 2, and knocked a ton of other horses off the board (literally, a bunch of the silks they hang up in the fake gate fell down)
5:55: Cool Coal Man took gate 1... it looks like the wind might have knocked those other boards off...
5:56: Recapturetheglory goes with gate 18, which leaves Gayego to go in post 19
5:58: Dutrow says that he took gate 20 since as insurance incase his horse breaks poorly
5:59: We've gone to commercial and will get odds when we come back -- no more updates, I will open up another window with the odds.
