Clyde Van Dusen, a gelded son of Man o' War who won the Kentucky Derby in 1929, is the only horse in the 134 years win the race from post 20. However, since he did it, only 11 races have had a horse start from that gate.
According to the chart from that race, he took the lead after the first quarter, saved ground while setting the pace and responded to light shaking up the stretch to hold his opponents safe, he won by 2 lengths. He was the second choice that year at 3-1.
One of my favorite facts about Clyde Van Dusen is that he was named after his trainer, Clyde Van Dusen.
No horse has won from gate 19, and only Gato Del Sol has won from gate 18.

You may want to tell Daily Racing Form about your CVD stat. Its draw story says that post 20 is winless.
think they also said on the ESPN show that there were no winners from post 20...but he certainly did start from there.
