Gayego was the lone Derby contender to work over the muddy track at Churchill Downs today, breezing five furlongs in 1:01.00.
Trainer Paulo Lobo's horse made his first start outside of California (and on a dirt surface) in The Arkansas Derby, a win which also should have removed most questions about his ability to translate his synthetic success to dirt.
Monba and Cowboy Cal, trainer Todd Pletcher's duo from the Blue Grass Stakes, are expected to work at Keeneland this morning -- updates will come when more information is available.

Anyone know why the time reported in the DRF's story is different than the time they report on the "workouts" section of the website (that are gathered through Equibase)?
